Gelert - The legend tells that Gelert was the dog of Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Gwynedd; the poem Beth-Gêlert, written by William Robert Spencer in 1811, tells his drama. There is no evidence that his story is true.
In Beddgelert ("Gelert's Grave", the name would be in honor to a saint named Kilart or Celert), there is a place where supposedly the dog is buried — but people say that it's just a piece of propaganda created by a hotel owner named David Pritchard in late 18th century to boost business.
Gelert's statue guards the entrance of a stone hut.
