This goes with a doll I made for my friend for Christmas last year. The skull is from a squirrel. The body is made from different bones including snake vertebrae. The ribs are made of boa constrictor ribs. I work as a naturalist in a park so I find bones and people give them to me. using bones in my art is not about being gross! It is about me thinking of the animal that died as not just road kill but as a piece of the natural world. This way they live on somehow and even teach people sometimes. I say the doll built herself and the same goes for this little dog. I had no idea how to do it and it just came together like this!
